Day Twenty

Jane Evans   -

Numbers 13:31a-33

But the other men who had explored the land with him disagreed…………. “The land we traveled through and explored will devour anyone who goes to live there. All the people we saw were huge. 33 We even saw giants there, the descendants of Anak. Next to them we felt like grasshoppers, and that’s what they thought, too!”

The word for giant isרָפָה raphah it’s from a primitive root word which means; sink, relax:—abandon, become helpless, cease, collapse, discouraging, fail, fall limp, feeble, forsake, hang limp, lazy, leave, let him alone, let it go, let me alone.

That is the work of a giant!

We have many things in our lives that cause discouragement, that intimidate us make us feel like we are abandoned and alone, collapse our courage, leave us with a limp soul, feeling feeble and helpless……the result WE SINK back and are convinced it is easier to just leave sleeping giants alone!

We have two choices when we are faced with GIANTS.

We can run away from them OR run towards them.

And it all depends on your perspective. If you allow the giants in your life to intimidate you, it will affect how you see yourself and then you will become convinced that that is how others see you. Think about how ridiculous their statement is; “Next to them we felt like grasshoppers, and that’s what they thought, too!”

Really? How many conversations with giants did they have about grasshoppers? When you are paralyzed by fear you become convinced that other people think things that they actually don’t! We know for a fact that 40 years later Rahab said to the spies, “

“I know that the Lord has given you this land and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you. (Joshua 2:9)

WHAT do YOU allow yourself to believe?

The Children of Israel ran away from them because they saw GIANTS and they allowed the giants to affect what they thought about themselves.

The result? They all died without seeing the promise fulfilled. The promise was still there, still available, they just didn’t get to live in it. Some of your promises are still there, don’t run, and remember, you are NOT alone.

Blessings,
