Day Seventeen

Jane Evans   -

Joshua 1:11

“Pass through the camp and command the people, saying, ‘Prepare provisions for yourselves, for within three days you will cross over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God is giving you to possess.'”

Prepare provisions for yourself.

They had three days advance notice of the journey ahead of them and needed to prepare food and provisions so that they wouldn’t be slowed down or have to stop, to replenish supplies. It was about preparing things that would sustain their energy and help them stay focused and alert.

In order to accomplish what God has for you, you need to prepare for your new normal. Things change when you are stepping into what God has for you, and for this reason, sometimes it’s easier to want what God has for you than to actually step into it. Today God is telling you to prepare, maybe you need to get some systems in place or routines that will help you deal with the extra load while you are moving forward. Maybe you need to develop Domino habits to help you make the changes necessary so that less energy is wasted on survival and more is used for progress. Make a list of the things that you could do NOW that will help you face giants and win battles in the future. For instance, you may like to create a space in your home to do devotions each day. I spoke with someone who showed me they had simply cleaned out some junk and bought a chair and a small table and it had changed everything! She now had a “place” to go to instead of trying to escape the chaos of the kids each day. Maybe you need to cook meals ahead on a Saturday, organize an area of the house, buy your groceries on ClickList, get your bills automated. Whatever it is that will save you time and energy for what is ahead, start today!

Blessings,
